Originally purchased in 1999, this Big Island residence embodies a deep connection to the land and its Island spirit. After first collaborating with Philpotts Interiors for interior décor, the homeowners returned 20 years later for a comprehensive renovation to update and elevate the home while honoring its original Hawaiian character.
Working closely with the clients, the design team preserved it’s original design intent while enhancing its materials and flow. Black lava rock, locally sourced woods, and custom furnishings reflect the surrounding landscape. The kitchen showcases five native and tropical wood species, including Koa flooring, Mango counter stools, Ohia cabinetry, Mahogany trim, and Teak ceiling accents.
