When this Miami businessman wanted a weekend getaway for himself and his friends, he chose the quiet atmosphere of Jupiter Island, a reasonable drive from the bustling city. The client, who delights in taking an active interest in the design of his homes, wanted a contemporary home with a Bahamian feel. Here he worked closely with a contractor/friend on the details.
He is, along with his brother, an avid collector of Floridian regional art and wanted to fill the house with some of his extensive collection. Philpotts Interiors was chosen to help with the design because we had already worked successfully with the client on a townhouse he purchased on the island of Lanai.
We selected contemporary furniture with Colonial references to achieve the look he wanted. “Tongue and groove” paneling throughout creates the feeling of a seaside cottage in the Bahamas. In the living room, we used a rough limestone from Malta to give the room the feeling of antiquity. The seating area invites comfortable lounging and conversation.
