Guestroom Overall

Sheraton Waikiki

Waikiki, Oʻahu, HI

The Sheraton Waikiki is positioned literally feet from the ocean’s edge. This allows guests to take advantage of the stunning ocean and Diamond Head views from most of the guest rooms.

An infinity pool had been added to the property earlier and gave the entire hotel the feeling of extending into the sea. We took our lead from that addition and attempted to make it not just a hotel on the beach, but instead, a “beach hotel.”

We worked with local artist Debbie Young to create a design for custom wall coverings to act as the perfect backdrop for headboards. The hotel’s public spaces are congested, so it was imperative that the guest rooms be tranquil and allow guests to unwind and recharge.

Side Table Detail

The color palette is soft and quiet. A louvered wall at the room’s entrance creates a gracious arrival experience. We designed a tailored closet to house them all together and bring order. It’s the small details that matter in design. We selected a dresser with a scalloped front to reference the waves outside, wood finishes that looked like driftwood, louvers that evoked trellises.

Tropical environments are the perfect places for lanais. Here we aimed to create a sense of a pavilion to give a feeling of privacy. We added a chaise lounge and work table with a chair, inviting guests to use the space.
